Great seafood at Old Harbor Seafood Company
We made it over to the new Old Harbor Seafood Kitchen in Cumming on opening day, May 12, 2022. We had some business in the area, so we gave it a try.
First impressions: WOW! Right up front the food is excellent!!! Now let’s slow down and back up a bit.
Old Harbor is located at 911 Market Place Boulevard in Cumming, just in front of Lowes near the intersection of 400 and Highway 20. You will not find large sailfish hanging on the walls nor a heavy nautical, old-school decorations. You will find a nice, bright, crisp décor with a combination of regular and high top tables. A front, outside seating area with umbrellas is a nice touch as the Kitchen sits on the corner of a small strip center and the traffic was light – we sat outside on a great day.
Study the menu online before you go to save time. At Old Harbor Seafood Kitchen, you order your food right up front and take a number to your table. Once you order, self-service drinks, plates, plastic wear, salt, pepper, etc., is next and then head to a table and await a fest!
Old Harbor Seafood Kitchen will be famous for their seafood boil. Basically it is ‘everybody in the pool ‘ with all the seafood, corn on the cob, sausage, and potatoes all in a very large boiling bag with great spices! They do have the very good appetizers as well as fried baskets and sandwiches. We tried the calamari which was prepared perfectly, a flounder sandwich and two seafood boils: Headless Shrimp & Sausage and the Headless Shrimp & Black Mussels. The seafood boils were quite large! We had enough leftovers for another meal and looked forward to it!
Bottom Line:
Old Harbor Seafood Kitchen is a must try. We can see many visits for dine in and for takeout as we head for the hills with a pound or two of a shrimp boils!
